Founded in 2021, Opera Asteria intends to present opera works with female storytelling and representation in mind with the belief that this will aid the continuing diversification of the stories on which we focus in the arts.
Opera Asteria’s debut production was a semi-staged shortened one-hour concert adaptation of The Rape of Lucretia by Benjamin Britten with piano and harp performed at St Stephen’s, Dulwich June 2021. This was a charity concert where a portion of ticket cost went towards fundraising for Refuge, which provides specialist support for women and children experiencing domestic violence.
